Due to the worsening COVID-19 situation, the 31st Golden Melody Awards, a prestigious awards ceremony for the Mandarin music world has announced delays till October 2020.

Usually held in June at the Taipei Arena, mounting concerns over safety of artists, behind-the-scenes staff and all in attendance of the ceremony spurred the awards committee to make the decision to delay the awards ceremony to October, with the nominee announcements also delayed to mid-July instead.

The usual events associated with the occasion including the Golden Melody Awards music festival and Golden Melody Awards conference are also confirmed to be cancelled this year.

Location for this years’ ceremony will be announced separately.

The Golden Melody Awards is one of the most prestigious music awards ceremonies in Asia, and is certainly the most important one in existence for the Mandarin music scene. Often considered the ‘Grammies’ of Mandarin music, the event has become a major centrepiece for the Taiwanese music scene with all the biggest stars in the Greater China region in attendance.
