Just in time for summer break, Taiwanese indie darlings Shallow Levée 淺提 treat listeners to a surprise drop of two back-to-back singles, “Eventually 好不容易” and “I’ve Changed 我變了” launching July 23rd.

Hailing from the Harbour city of Kaohsiung, the band’s fresh musical fusions, DIY spirit and imaginative method of marketing themselves (they even hire themselves out for weddings, but will ONLY perform their own songs) have gained them a cult following across Taiwan, China and Japan where they tour regularly.

Revealing a more upbeat sound entering 2024, generous doses of amplifiers and effect pedals produced the adrenaline-inducing ‘I’ve Changed’ which shows Shallow Levée at their sunny best as vocalist Yi-Ling ponders pressures from society and the relentless progress of time (and ourselves).

On the other hand, the band’s second single “Eventually” brings in more of Shallow Levée’s signature meandering tones as they paint a lucid, vibrant picture of the bittersweet hardships and isolation urban life brings.

“I’ve Changed” is also the name of the band’s upcoming Taiwan concert tour. Combining videos and an alternative storyline in their new concert experience, this ‘band for rent’ take their title to the next level, transforming themselves into a virtual “rental band” situated in 2064, a time where music creation no longer requires human intervention.

Of the show’s concept, the band shares their intention to pose food for thought regarding the A.I age we are entering.

“The concept behind the ‘band for rent in 2064’ hints at Shallow Levée’s nostalgia for rock music and human connection. We aim to lead our listeners to rethink the essence of rock n roll and the AI era”

Known for their quirky, eclectic mix of indie/alternative sounds, the critically-acclaimed Taiwanese band who have been nominated twice for the prestigious Golden Indie Music Awards draws influence from the likes of Wilco (U.S.), The Strokes (U.S.), Fishmans (JP), Mitsume (JP), Olivia Dean (UK) and more to weave together their stories on life in Taiwan.

Having performed previously at Singapore’s Huayi Festival, Korea’s Unplugged and Japan’s BiKN Festival, the band look to expand their sights and bring their unique live experience to even bigger audiences in 2024 and beyond as they move forward to this exciting new chapter of their journey.

“Eventually” and “I’ve Changed” are now available on all streaming platforms, and tickets for Shallow Levée’s Taipei and Kaohsiung shows will go on sale 25th July.
