The AXEAN festival returns for their 6th year to Jimbaran Hub in Bali 13th and 14th September with yet another ever-eclectic yet vibrant lineup including the likes of Jangar, Kelompok Penerbang Roket, One Click Straight , Su San, Shye, and DOOR PLANT.
The festival’s second time gracing the shores of Bali, they have just released a first round lineup including Bali-based alternative rock band Jangar, psychedelic rock trio Kelompok Penerbang Roket, indie rock quartet Ministry Of, six-piece band L’alphalpha, and rising producer and singer-songwriter XANDEGA from Indonesia, alongside budots pioneer DJ Love and alt-rock outfit One Click Straight from the Philippines; rising dark pop artist Su San from Malaysia; indie pop/rock singer-songwriter Shye and prolific electronic musician and producer Fauxe from Singapore; and experimental rave n’ roll act S.O.L.E. and four-piece alt rock band DOOR PLANT from Thailand.
A festival run by veteran indie professionals such as M1LDL1FE bandmate and regional music export specialist David Siow, the festival has always featured a unique curation of artists from the Southeast Asian region and surrounding areas, offering up a platter of the best undiscovered gems that the region has to offer.
“These are the Southeast Asian artists we think are ready to break out regionally and internationally,” says David Siow, co-founder of AXEAN Festival. “Many of these artists have a strong local following, and we’re here to connect the dots globally.”
Additionally, to a lineup that has traditionally focused on band sound setups and traditional live artists, AXEAN Festival will unveil Club AXEAN Showcase, a new stage focusing on electronic and club music from across the Southeast Asian region. Of this new iteration, co-founder Piyapong Muenprasertdee shares:
“This year, we’d like to introduce artists who blend local sounds and cultural textures with electronic forms, which is a genre that’s gaining serious traction internationally. We see this not just as a trend but as a powerful vehicle to showcase our regional identity in new and compelling ways, alongside the diverse spectrum of local music we continue to champion.”
Once again, AXEAN will feature a music conference and songwriting camp for selected artists who take part in the festival, designed to create meaningful opportunities for cultural dialogue, collaboration and partnership.
Global independent music aggregator Tunecore is reprising their support of AXEAN once again this year, in light of their own commitment also to supporting the growth of independent music in Southeast Asia.
