With those sultry vocals and some skilful songwriting chops, Asian-Australian pop artist Teagan Goh is the one to watch as she releases her latest single ‘Feeling Good’.
The third single she’s ever released, ‘Feeling Good’ reveals a depth and maturity past the 21 year-old’s young years; both musically and lyrically.
Teagan shares the message behind the song:
“Feeling Good is an analogy for pretending to be over something that clearly still bothers us. It’s a catchy dance beat crafted to conceal how we truly feel.”
Indeed, the catchy chorus repeated over and over layered on top of the lofi R&B arrangement produced by Spike Leo suggests that all is not as it seems.
Goh’s muted, velveteen vocals are perfect on this track; weaving a subtle hint of melancholy and unwillingness to move on into her performance.
This, alongside her beautifully crafted lyrics “I’m feeling great/I’m feeling good/Do you believe me” and intelligent melody lines tastefully and clearly present the nuanced topic Goh and Leo intended to discuss within this piece.
The music video beautifully brings the song to life, creating pockets of space within a happening rave scene where time slows down, and Teagan is alone with her thoughts.
Whether you’re an introvert who’s been dragged to one too many parties, or someone going through something and being pushed to go on a night out you never wanted, this song’s for you.
