10 female producers in electronica you should know with Noé Solange

By Noé Solange
Foreword by Jocelle Koh
Note from editor: We are huge, huge fans of Dutch-Indonesian electronic producer and singer-songwriter Noé Solange. First coming onto our radars in 2022 with her single “Bloom”, we were immediately enraptured by her divine feminine energy and how effortlessly she poured that into her ethereal soundscapes. Her 2024 long-awaited EP “Rise” was more of the same, and we were even more excited to discover her Tiktok series ‘Female producers in electronica you should know”.
We are honoured to invite Solange to bring her curation to Asian Pop Weekly, and to pick her brain on the importance of community, and of course which artists are currently on her radar.

We love your tiktok series ‘female producers in Electronica you should know’! What made you start this series?
I had been making Spotify playlists such as ‘Women in Electronica’ for a while and saw this series as a natural extension – an opportunity to expand to another platform where I can further spotlight and support talented women in electronic music in an engaging way and discover more artists in the process!
As an electronic musician myself, I have seen how male-dominated the music industry is, especially within production roles and I wanted to showcase the incredible work of other women in this space. This is just something I’m doing for fun, but you never know who comes across it and hopefully it can inspire more women to pursue their passion in music!
As a female producer yourself, do you feel community could alleviate some of these challenges?
Community is everything!
Connecting with other producers and musicians has been so empowering and having a community where you can talk about shared experiences, learn and motivate each other makes a huge difference. It’s all about building a supportive space for everyone to thrive 💖
Your ‘Rise’ EP is a beautiful summary of your current outlook which is both meditative and vibrant. What are you working on creatively at the moment, and what excites you currently?
Thank you! I’ve been feeling very inspired lately and been working on new music. There’s been a lot more experimenting with sounds and finding new ways to incorporate more elements inspired by my heritage into my work. I’m also very excited about a project that will be released later this year, which I can’t wait to share!
Noé’s Picks
The South Korean duo, Uman Therma and Yetsuby, create music that feels like a dream. Their blend of ambient, electronic and experimental sounds makes for such an immersive listening experience! I love their track ‘Mockingbird’.
Hinako Omori’s music is such a beautiful example of how reflective and healing art can be. I find her album ‘A Journey’ very meditative, which takes inspiration from the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku and sound therapy. By combining synths, organic elements and angelic vocals, she transports you into another world.
Laura Misch blends jazz with electronica in such a light, organic way. I love the direction she took with her album ‘Sample The Sky’, which blends synths, textured organic elements and saxophone with airy vocals. Her ability to create such immersive and evocative storytelling throughout her songs feels so effortless and graceful.
Art School Girlfriend – A place to Lie
The Welsh artist, Art School Girlfriend, never disappoints with her atmospheric production.
Her music has such an immersive quality, blending dreamy electronica, dance and indie influences with reflective lyrics. She’s created the perfect tracks for those late-night drives!
Melati ESP – KUPU KUPU ELEKTRONIK
I discovered Melati ESP a year ago and was instantly hooked by her unique production! She incorporates her Indonesian heritage through traditional instrumentation and processed vocals in Bahasa, flawlessly blending them with electronic pop elements and eclectic beats.
Yaeji has such a distinctive sound that blends electronic, house, Korean pop and hip-hop influences with bilingual lyrics (English and Korean). Her dancefloor-ready melodies and lyrics get stuck in my head for days!
Sofia Kourtesis – Si Te Portas Bonito
Sofia Kourtesis is so talented in the way she blends Latin American rhythms and electronic elements to craft catchy, emotive music. Her album ‘Madres’ is such an essential dance album that strikes the perfect balance of personal storytelling (through audio recordings etc) and transporting you to the dancefloor.
박혜진 Park Hye Jin- I DON’T CARE
It’s impossible not to dance or bop along to Park Hye Jin’s music. Effortlessly blending electronic, house and hip-hop influences with vocals that shift between English and Korean, she’s created her iconic sound that pushes boundaries on the dancefloor.
Giulia Tess has such a talent for creating melodies and rhythms with intricate percussive elements and electronic textures. Drawing inspiration from techno, leftfield house, southern Italian music, among others, she’s formed a distinctive, electronic style of her own. I’ve been listening to ‘200417’ on repeat!
Welsh artist, Kelly Lee Owen’s music is a balance between introspective, emotive and energetic. I’ve always described her as a ‘queen of synths’. Her ethereal vocals, intricate synths and hypnotic beats create the perfect euphoric dancefloor tracks.
